5th Annual General Aviation Fun Day

On May 21st, 2011 the Atlantic Aviators held its 5th Annual General Aviation Fun Day. Over 6,000 people came out to the event, despite poor weather early in the day. The 2011 Atlantic Aviators Aviation and STEM Scholarship winners were presented with their awards. The New Bedford Regional Pilots Association provided inexpensive airplane rides to benefit the Atlantic Aviators Playground Fund. Several demonstrations from a variety of groups from the New Bedford Police Department K-9 Division and New Bedford Fire Department Crash Truck to Gonsalves Tae Kwon Do and a variety of dancers from Center Stage Dance Studio entertained the crowds. Local pilots put on an aerobatic demonstration for onlookers. Raffles with prizes valued at over $300 were held as well as a 50/50 raffle. Ryan Rotors and Heliops from Plymouth, MA attended to give helicopter rides and hold a Golf Ball Drop. Other attractions included Terrafugia – The Flying Car; the Buttonwood Park Zoo Choo; Mass DOT & FAA Flight Simulators; Antique & Classic Cars and so much more!!
